Who We Are

Brian Farkas: Brian holds In General Securities License in almost all of the states. He is also a Registered Principal, supervising other advisors. He got a crash course in financial management at age 16 when he took on the full responsibility of his family’s house hold after the passing of his father. Although his father left the family on shaky financial ground, within two years Brian singlehandedly paid off all car loans and credit card debt. It was this situation that piqued his life-long interest in financial management. His career includes the following:

1971-1979:  Jr. Pressman New York Times; Daily News; SUNY Farmingdale & Hofstra University; doing Financial Planning as well

1979-1987:  Owner/Publisher Manhattan Pennysaver

1987-1990: Advisor with Thomson McKinnon Securities and Prudential Securities.

1990-1995: Senior Vice President Chemical Bank Investment Services, Inc.;

Advisory Council, Chemical Investments; Advisory Council Putnam Investments; Advisory Council Rochester Mutual Funds; 1810 Club, Hartford Life Insurance

1995-1996: Vice President with Chase Manhattan after merger with Chemical Bank

1996 – Present: Started Barons Financial Securities with American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc.; Registered Principal, IAR with American Portfolios Advisors; member of Registered Financial Consultants

XavierFelipe: Xavier is a CFP with American Portfolios/Barons Financial with 25 years of financial experience. Xavier specializes in customized portfolio construction and financial planning applications. He believes in making your money serve you in the best way possible by clearly defining your goals and matching them to your investment plan. Xavier graduated Baruch College CUNY and then worked at Kidder Peabody. After, he furthered his career at UBS and Janney Montgomery Scott. Xavier is passionate about exercise and a huge fan of classical music. He is a father of two children and lives on Long Island, NY.

Marianne Haynes: Marianne, office manager, has been with Barons Financial full-time since 2001 and is an encyclopedia of financial knowledge when it comes to processing paperwork, fiscal rules and regulations, and all things administrative. Along with being Brian’s second in command, she handles licensing and compliance, as well as overseeing all the assistants. She is the quintessential native Long Islander – so very friendly, making everyone and anyone feel at ease immediately upon meeting her, seeming to know one and all. Marianne’s a font of information on all things Long Island – eateries, beaches, boating, etc. When she isn’t at Barons, she can be found with her family and/or friends at local neighborhood places.

Kelly Laufer: Kelly has been with Barons full-time since 2016. Although the youngest of the administrative assistants, her knowledge of processes is extensive, being that she has been trained directly by Marianne. Kelly deals mainly with taking care of clients, opening accounts, tracking fund movement, and preparing for client meetings. Kelly is also responsible for the training new assistants. Born in South Carolina, but with roots here on Long Island, she’s a fun mix of the two regions – combining open and gracious southern hospitality with northern bulldog persistence when it comes to getting tasks done. Kelly enjoys checking out Long Island’s dog parks with her pup, Ava, writing poetry, and spending time with friends and family.

Kimberly Lowenstein: Kimberly has been a full-time assistant at Barons since 2018. A recent 2017 transplant from New Jersey, she was employed in the same position for three years prior with another financial advisor. Coming to Barons with prior knowledge of the in-and-outs of the finance industry made her entry into the office practically seamless. Kimberly helps take care of clients, processes paperwork, calculates/keeps track of RMDs, and works on anything else that Marianne and/or Kelly need her to do. Kimberly is an avid reader and car enthusiast. She can be found either curled up in her chair-and-a-half with a book or behind the wheel of her fun little VW GTI.

Stefanie Rhodes: Stefanie was hired part-time in November of 2018. She works mostly with Xavier, but chips in with work for Brian when necessary. Her work with Xavier tends towards different types insurances (life, long term care), so her knowledge in that area is a nice complement to the financial planning/investment base of the other assistants. Stefanie takes care of clients, follows up on claims, and does scheduling among other office duties. In her off-time, she’s at the beck-and-call of her teen daughter, and is also a big fan Seton Hall basketball
